Angel Underwriting launches new web site and broker portal at BIBA 2007

Firstly, a big thank you to all our clients for their patience whilst our site was being upgraded. Hopefully it has not caused too much inconvenience! For a smaller independent agency like Angel such a comprehensive upgrade to our quoting and underwriting systems has been a major undertaking. Whilst we tried to keep “down time” to an absolute minimum by commencing the upgrades during the Easter holidays we do appreciate there is never a good time to be unavailable!

Two years ago we were one of the first agencies to launch an online quote and binding engine for Directors and Officers liability insurance. Since then we have added a number of additional products and with our new technology expect to be able to offer a wide range of products online for our brokers to access.

The new Quick Quote system is completely different from before so even if you use us regularly you may need to spend an extra few minutes establishing your profile and selecting your security questions, then a whole new system awaits you!

The new website

Before you login to the underwriting portal you will see that our home page has also had a complete face lift. Rather than being a static page with not much going on it is now flexible and interactive with updated UK insurance industry news every 10 minutes, business news from the BBC and relevant industry links available for your perusal. Angel Assistance is the way of contacting us online for immediate assistance. Alternatively you can ask us to call you back. As soon as you have told us the number to call, click “call me” we will phone you straight back!

Our new website now has a link to Climate Care the carbon offsetting organisation. By offering our brokers the option to issue electronic policies, as well as running a paperless office ourselves, the number of policies underwritten last year with Angel contributed to offsetting 84.65 metric tonnes of CO2 ,that’s the equivalent of 260,461 miles in a family car. This year we are shooting for 250! We also support several key charities and we urge you to spend a minute and click on their web links, that’s why we put them on our front page!

New “go straight to…”
If all you want is a proposal form or a copy of a wording you can now use our go straight to.. feature. This is where all our documents are conveniently located for each class we underwrite, so whether it’s Professional Indemnity, Directors and Officers or bespoke Charities and other not for profit organisations, this is where you should be able to find them!

New “Quick Quote”
Selecting an Industry and a prospective inception date in the Quick Quote module and then clicking on “proceed” is the new faster way into the quick quote system. The first time you login you will need to enter your current user name and password, you will then be asked to pick your name from the list of agents we have registered from your office, (if your name does not appear please contact us and we can easily add you). Once you have told us who you are you will be prompted for a security question, in future this will be the only thing you will need to remember to access both Quick Quote and your broker portal (see later for details of the broker portal) provided you have put a tick in the “remember me next time” box.

The new Quick Quote allows you to click between screens using the icons at the bottom of the page or the arrows at the top of the page and as you move through the screen builds an information bar on the side of the screen listing everything you done so far!

When you have completed the risk entry phase you are now taken to the new quote summary page where you can instantly view a summary of the risk you just entered, print it, email it to yourself or your colleagues, produce complete specimen documentation or even bind it. And now there’s no more waiting for emails, you can now download all PDF documents directly to your computer.

Clicking the new filing cabinet icon at the bottom of the screen will now take you directly to your own personalised web page from where a whole new range of options are available to you.

New “broker portal”
The first thing you will notice when you enter the Broker Portal is that it welcomes you as a person rather than as a company. This is important as we can now identify the risks you personally enter and make them available for you to review at any time. Of course if you want to look for risks that have been input by your colleagues, you can.

Whether you are in your own risk list or any other risk entered by a colleague, you can see all of the risks that have been entered, indicated, quoted or previously bound complete with the associated documents.

We have also now created a “find risk” search engine allowing you to search by all or part of a risk name or by using part or all of the risk number. From the options list on the left of the page click “Find Risk”. Your search can be specifically tailored to only find bound, quoted or indicated risks. So if you wanted to look at all bound risks you can do this simply by changing the status to bound and clicking “search”.

Shortly you will also be able to issue endorsements on existing policies such as a change in address and process simple renewals direct from your portal page.
